A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION MEMORIALIZING THE MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE TO DESIGNATE THE LABRADOR RETRIEVER AS THE STATE CANINE OF MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.<TITLE>HC 85 (As Introduced) - 1999 Regular Session</TITLE> WHEREAS, the friendly nature of the Labrador Retriever goes well with the state's nickname, "The Hospitality State"; and
WHEREAS, the versatile nature of the Labrador, reflected in the many jobs he can do, mirrors the many industries hosted by our state; and
WHEREAS, the sporting nature of the Labrador represents the variety of sportsmen and sporting activities that our state has to offer; and
WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi has no state canine; and
WHEREAS, the appeal of the Labrador Retriever to a wide variety of our citizens makes him an excellent representative of the canine family for our state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby memorialize the Mississippi Legislature to designate the Labrador Retriever as the state canine of Mississippi.
